About Benjamin & Akinyi
Benjamin Taylor and Akinyi Obala’s unique love story began in 2018 when they connected online as two passionate Christians seeking meaningful relationships. After nine months of virtual communication, Benjamin traveled to Nairobi to meet Akinyi and her family for the first time. Upon returning to the U.S., he filed a K-1 visa petition so Akinyi could join him in Arizona.
The process was complicated by the COVID-19 pandemic, but the couple persevered. After arranging a meeting with their congressman, Akinyi finally arrived in New York City in early 2021. Though they married in 2018, their union was officially recognized by the U.S. in April 2021.
Navigating a long-distance relationship and an international move during a global pandemic was no small feat. Their story gained international attention when it was featured on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days (Season 3). Now living in Arizona, Benjamin and Akinyi share their lives as husband and wife through Instagram and their YouTube channel, which has over 100,000 subscribers. They continue to appear in 90 Day Diaries and have been featured in several other spinoffs, including 90 Day: Self-Quarantined and Love Games.
